Venous Disease Assessment (VDA) Toolkit is intended to assist healthcare professionals in evaluation, classification, and management of venous diseases.   It provides a comprehensive compendium to evaluate a myriad of venous disorders.  Chronic venous disease (CVD) encompasses a broad spectrum of conditions, ranging from mild discomfort to severe complications, and their accurate assessment is paramount for effective patient care.

Purpose

This toolkit was curated to cater to a wide spectrum of providers to aid in the process of scoring, staging, and classifying a diverse array of venous disease. These tools have been developed and refined through years of clinical research and practice, aiming to provide standardized approaches to venous disease assessment.

Method

The SVM Venous Task Force members evaluated various venous scoring, classification and staging tools and chose the six most essential tools based on frequency of use, ease of use, critical need, while accommodating the nuances of individual patient presentations.

Utility

The VDA toolkit recognizing the diverse clinical contexts in which venous diseases are encountered. It presents commonly used tools in a manner which can easily be adopted and utilized for daily use.  Aspects of these tools can be adopted for use in the Electronic Healthcare Records (EHR), as CEAP and VCSS score are required for vein center accreditation.  This score allows the provider to conduct quality improvement projects, follow outcomes and treatment plan.

Goals

VDA toolkit offers a comprehensive suite of scoring systems and classification schemes. These tools encompass both subjective and objective parameters, allowing for a holistic evaluation of venous disease severity, progression, and response to treatment.

SVM Venous Task Force would like to invite providers to explore the resources within this toolkit and utilize, to improve care for CVD patients.
